KANAGAWA is my bas-relief version of the ukiyo-e print "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" by Japanese artist Hokusai, (published around 1830-33).

Made of maple wood, the dimensions are 240x120 cm, with a total weight of around 200 pounds (90kg). It took 6 months to finish this piece: 5 month for the carving (layer by layer) and 1 month for the finishing (10 coats of sealers and different varnishes for protection and the unique blonde chocolate color).

This piece is now the property of Mr Larry Ellison (CEO of Oracle) and was installed in his house in Malibu, California in May 2012.
